Thor & Mjölnir: A Lesson In Email Deliverability
If you were wondering, here are my top 8 marvel movies:
Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: End Game
Spider-Man: No Way Home
Thor Ragnarok
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Deadpool
Captain America: Civil War
Shang-Chi
I'm excited for Doomsday to come out this year, although I'm not really sure what to expect, as the lead up is non-existent compared to what they did for Infinity War and End Game. I will remain optimistic after seeing the trailers they have released the past couple weeks + I enjoyed fantastic four. I may actually spend some time later today ripping through some of the X-Men movies.
Anywho,
Out of this entire list, I would call Thor Ragnarok my marvel comfort movie. It's just a great all around marvel movie. Plus it's the last time we've seen some good, consistent hulk action.
(MARVEL SPOILERS AHEAD):
Towards the end of Ragnarok, Thor's sister; Hela, ends up smashing his hammer; Mjölnir to pieces. If you haven't seen any of the marvel movies... Thor can't really operate without his hammer (or at least he acts like he can't).
So throughout the next 2 movies that Thor appears in, he's all depressed and fat.
That's where that popular scene of him playing fortnite and drinking beer in his little cottage comes from (fun fact: that was filmed in Scotland).
Long story short; eventually he get's his hammer back and becomes his old self again.
So as I was sitting here thinking about how to explain email deliverability, Thor & Mjölnir popped into my head. Because if you're sending emails consistently, you're Thor... and email deliverability can act as Mjölnir. One without the other, is ok, but not great.
How to know you have poor email deliverability:
Emails landing in spam consistently or promotions every time
Open rate under 25% consistently
You want this to be good so more people will open your emails.
That said, here are my top 8 email deliverability tips:
Make it easy for people to unsubscribe (they will mark your emails as spam (which is bad for deliverability) if they can't find it).
Have a double opt-in for all of your lead magnet's (shiny quarter vs 100 pennies, we've talked about this all the time on the podcast, go for quality list over quantity).
For CRM's (Go-High-Level specifically), only send to engaged users consistently.
Get people to reply to your emails consistently (improves your reputation, another thing you can do is write emails to your list responding to people's questions. I've done this often in the Q&A emails).
Less images in emails... the best image you can have is the one you create in someone's head btw.
Less than 5 links in emails (more important: don't attach any broken or spammy links).
Make sure your DMARC, SPF, DKIM are properly set up (reach out if need help with this).
Write emails people like to read (the best tip here).
That's what I GOT for today people.
So if you need help with your email deliverability (or know someone who does), you can respond to this email or shoot me a DM on instagram with your favorite marvel movie.
Example: "ANT MAN."
Hahahaha.
